A Body Shop Guide to Perfect Skin

Something I would admit I seriously neglect on my blog is talking about skin care, especially when I consider it to be one of the most important things in a beauty routine. As they say: the key to perfect make-up is the perfect base.

Recently I became the very proud winner of the Body Shop X Sophdoesnails BRNDBX.

And to translate that into English- BRNDBX does giveaway boxes working with different brands and bloggers. The giveaway I won was a collaboration of The Body Shop and Youtuber Sophdoesnails. Naturally I was so excited when I got the email because a) I never win anything and b) I LOOOOVE The Body Shop’s products!
In my BRNDX I got 5 Body Shop products which are selected by Soph, and 4 of them were all things skincare. For someone like me who loves anything that can sort out my skin, this was very happy news!

Before I get into how the different products worked for me over the past few weeks, here is a little pre-information about my skin type and previous skin care, just in case you would like to compare:
I have normal-dry skin that is prone to redness and blemishes. When I was younger I had really bad acne which after years of not wearing make-up and repeatedly cleansing my face I have finally got under control. I am a big fan of the Simple Skincare products as I find they don’t react to my sensitive skin at all!

On to the Body Shop products…

Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution

This is the product I was most excited about trying purely down to the fact it has a pipette (/dropper/thing you used to use in science) applicator. This stuff is hands down a 10/10 skin care product, and if you have blemished skin you need to get your hands on it immediately. It has officially earned a spot in my everyday skin care routine!
If I had a spot on my face before I went to bed, I would rub some of the solution over it and by morning I would see significant results! The smell isn’t too much, it doesn’t react with my sensitive skins AND it’s not a gimmicky product- it actually works.
I would 100% recommend.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner

On first impressions it comes in a plastic bottle so tick for travel friendly…however once we get inside the bottle to the product things start to go down hill. This might be an amazing toner for you, I know it has been life changing for one of my friends who also struggled with acne. But on me…well…
As I said I have very sensitive skin and I am not exaggerating when I say that this toner feels like it’s burning my skin. It could just mean that it’s working, but personally after applying it my face stings and it’s just far too uncomfortable. The smell is very overpowering as well- tea tree overload! Granted yes it could just be a strong toner to target blemishes like the bottle says, but after using it for a few days my skin was so red that I had to just quit on this toner. Tapping out.

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

I was very very excited to try this product out as I have never tried one of The Body Shop’s face masks before. It is a 100% vegan face mask that claims to deeply purify and draw out impurities in your skin, leaving you with a healthy-glow. I have used this a few times now and I am thoroughly obsessed with it!
I will admit it is an intense face mask, (quite common in Body Shop cleansers I’m finding) meaning it’s not a ‘sit down, sing along to songs in your bedroom’ chill mask. Once applied it literally feels like my skin is being squeezed, as if I can physically feel the impurities being pulled from my pores. In a strange way, I kind of like it though. Once I’ve washed my face clean of the mask I feel instant results. My skin is brighter, more soft and these results last up to a few days!
As we know, charcoal masks are pretty popular and on trend at the minute with lots of charcoal masks out there to buy, so at least I can confirm to you this one actually works!

Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash Scrub Mask

This product can be used in three different ways depending on your preference and time schedule: a wash, a scrub, or a mask. As a wash it claims to remove all impurities on your face, a scrub will unclog your pores, and a mask will have a more intense effect of tightening pores, minimising the appearance of blackheads and deeply cleansing the skin.
I have only tried this as a wash and following my experiences I don’t have any major interest in trying it as a scrub or mask. At first I was very optimistic as it doesn’t have a strong, overpowering smell of tea-tree. However as I was washing off the product, I realised I was struggling to actually wash off the product…no matter how many times I scrubbed at my face it was still there. Then after FINALLY getting it all off, my face just felt dry and rough from the mask. Fair to say it wasn’t for me and I have face washes I would much rather reach for!

The fifth thing in my BRNDBX was a body butter which is sooo popular, which pretty much everyone must have had at some point in there household. Therefore I will not dive into a full, thorough review. All I will say is that if by some chance you are unaware of their body butters: they are a definite staple! Love love love!
