BEST MAKE-UP of 2018

Last year was revolutionary for the make-up world. From new trends, new palettes (*cough*, James Charles, *cough*), new emerging talent and a tidal wave of Instagram pics that I am still amazed by. Every year, as Christmas and New Year’s Eve come around, I see so many bloggers and YouTubers create content dedicated to the make-up that they fell in love with that year. And every year I refrain from jumping on the bandwagon…except for this year. 2018 was so insanely inspiring and creative in terms of make-up, how could I not write up a collection of products that I have obsessed over the past 365 days?

Face:

Foundation: 2018 was the year that I really branched out in terms of foundations. I went through a stage of trying out different brands, price points, finishes etc etc… so much so that I even created a Drugstore Foundation Awards- all the best foundations on the high street for an affordable price, which I will leave linked here: Drugstore Foundation Awards- The Best Foundations on a Budget.

So yes, for me, 2018 was the year of foundation. I left the year loooooving the combo of L.A. Girl PRO Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation in Fair and Maybelline Superstay Foundation in 03 True Ivory. I think anyone with an interest in beauty heard about, if not bought, the Maybelline Superstay foundation. The coverage, for a high street foundation, is amazing and definitely worth picking up on your next Superdrug shop. Mixing the two shades gives me a gorgeous pale, yet sun-kissed, complexion and the satin finish of the L.A. Girl foundation is the stuff of dreams.

Concealer: As for concealer- no it’s not Shape Tape- but actually, it’s more affordable dupe Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer in C2. The glorious coverage and quality of Shape Tape without breaking the bank

Powder: Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Powder– if only the loose powder version would come to the UK! Fingers crossed 2019 is the year it crosses the sea…

Bronzer: CYO When the Sun Don’t Shine Bronzing Powder in Medium

2018 was the year that I had a love affair with blush.

Blush: Trying to pick just one for this blog post was the hardest 15 minutes of my life. So call me the worst blogger in the world but I have chosen two, an affordable and a boojee option. NARS Orgasm Blush will always have a place in my heart. And then a fabulous dupe for anyone who doesn’t want to break the bank: Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. Both are stunning shimmery pink blushers!

Highlight: Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow

Eyes & Brows:

Eyeshadow: HOW does anyone choose one palette to encompass an entire year of make-up?? If I’m entirely honest, there isn’t one that particularly jumps out at me as the lil star of the year. Perhaps 2018 will be the year I fall in love with eyeshadow again…now if James Charles X Morphe would just restock…

I for one particularly loved using the Urban Decay Heavy Metals Glitter Liner, my favourite colour being Distortion. These liners just complete any look and by Dec 2019 I will have every colour, mark my words.

Brows: L.A. Girl Brow Pomade & Primark Skinny Brow Pencil. I have never really been a fan of pencil brow products, that is until I met this little guy from Primark. This pencil has been compared to Anastasia Beverly Hills, and it’s £2 people…I’ll just leave it there shall I?

Mascara:  KIKO Milano Ultra Tech + Volume and Definition Mascara

I also went from ‘uttlery terrible’ to ‘meh, not bad’ at putting on eyelashes’!

Lashes: My favourite lashes at the moment are the Tatti Lashes as they have so much flick and drama. Yes, please!

Lips:

Lipstick: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Leo (aka the perfect dark nude)- also the year I finally tried a Jeffree Star Lipstick! Why on earth did I wait so long?

Lip Liner: MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil

Let me know if you have ever tried any of these products, or if you have any recommendations for other products I should try!

Have a fabulous New Year!
